Results … Sugar Free Challenge!
Congratulations to all of you who participated in the Sugar Free Challenge Week. And a big applause to those who hung in there the whole week! I stuck it out but discovered there was stevia in the tea Brad made me. I don’t mind stevia but I don’t think I would have known had it not been for the challenge. Later, in the final hours, chocolate cheese cake at Hillary’s Cheese in Cowichan Bay… highly recommended : )
If you stayed on focussed for the whole week, please let me know, I have a prize for you! : )
Here are some of the comments from Pam, Donna & Pamella
I did quite well on my 7 day sugar free challenge. I read every label and worked hard to avoid added sugar. I think I was about 90% successful. I noticed a great improvement in my energy level. I am going to continue with this and try to trigger some weight loss. Thank you for suggesting it and supporting us during the week.

Made it through!!! Actually, it wasn’t that hard. Lots of label reading and planning. Amazing how much of our food has some type of sugar in it.Made me more aware of that for sure.

Though not completely sugar free this week the challenge has helped me greatly reduce my sugar cravings and break a few bad habits. I was able to steer clear of the box of Tim Bits that a co-worker brings in every week or so. Normally I eat many – this week I ate one and didn’t enjoy it and didn’t go back for more. Only once did I put honey in my tea. Overall I became more conscious of what I put in my mouth. While staying at a friends on Monday I tried some rice crackers – they tasted sweet so I checked the label. Sure enough there was sugar in them! I didn’t eat any more.
In some moments of weekness when I started to reach for something sweet I would ask myself “do I really want to eat that sugar and break the challenge?” Most of the time my answer was no. The odd time I did have sugar such as last night when I was over at a friends for dinner. I didn’t deny myself dessert but savoured the small portion I took and breaking my previous trend I was satisfied with a little and wasn’t even tempted to have more.
Thanks for the challenge. It helped me shake the sugar cravings that seem to have started at Christmas and had been getting more intense with each passing week.
