The power of intentions. What are yours for 2019? What are your life intentions? Forever Fit, Duncan, BC

What are my intentions for 2019 and what exactly does that mean? What does this have to do with health, fitness? my body? my weight loss? Is it the same as a goal? I have been asking these questions for years now. And I’m just now starting to shed some light on these questions.

I do not have all the answers but Gary Zukav’s book along with Oprah Winfreys shows, podcasts and articles state that all of our thoughts, feelings and actions are motivated by our intentions. Aaand that they can be motivated by one of two things. Love or Fear. Wow! So now, I find myself thinking… “What am I afraid of? ”

Many lovely people come to me with the idea that they “should” lose weight and feel stronger. Be healthier, happier, pain free and much more. Some are successful, some are not. I often ask myself, why are some successful and some not?  What is the difference? Is it my ability to motivate them? I know that I am just the cheerleader. That change must be motivated by one’s internal self, but I still question my “enoughness” : ) What if it is their “intention”? What if it’s true, all change is motivated by our intentions?

Setting intentions is not the same as setting a goal.

Goals are focused on the future. Intentions are in the present moment. Goals are a destination or specific achievement. Intentions are lived each day, independent of reaching the goal or destination. Setting my intention to live a life full of joy is not something I can go “get”. It’s an intention that will drive my actions toward a joyful life. Intentions come from your heart and are motivated by love not fear. They are what we “want” not what we “should” have or do.

Here is an article that I found thought provoking. “Do You Really Know How Powerful Intentions Are?”  Notice that there is a quote from Gary Zukav, author of The Seat of the Soul. I just started this book and am blown away by the information and the power of these ideas. Today, my “intention” is to get more clear about what “intention” is and what my intentions are for life.  Are my “thoughts, feelings and actions” in line with my intentions? Setting your intentions will help you make the right choices, meet the right people and go to the right places to get what you want. Our intentions motivate our thoughts, feelings and actions.
