Cathy’s personal story at Forever Fit started last May. Her body fat was too high, she was not exercising at all and yet she could not figure out why her clothes were not fitting. Being the loving, kind person that she is, Cathy, as most women do, put most of her energy and time into her family, later, took care of her elderly parents before she decided it was time for her. Although Cathy felt like she was doing all the right things by eating right things to be healthy, she wasn’t losing any weight. I gave Cathy a little nutrition education, some creative ideas for her meal planning, an introduction to an exercise program she could manage and she was off to the races. Cathy brought a willingness to make small gradual changes that still fit into her life. That is the perfect combination for success.
Now? Cathy is down many inches and pounds. She is hiking with our class and her family, and participating in Bootcamps. This girl is a rock star! Cathy impresses me everyday. From day 1, she took on every challenge I gave her. She says ” Ok, I’ll give it a try” and “afterwards she says, ” Ya, that was hard but it was good” : ) She challenges herself but stays within a range that is best for her health. It is not about competing with others, it’s only about improving on where we were. Cathy is now an integral part of our fitness family. She brings a willingness to try, she offers a lot of support to other members and keeps us all laughing. We love you Cath! Welcome to your healthy lifestyle : )
Here’s what Cathy says in her own words. ” I saw some friends going to one of Nancy’s classes one night and I thought … ‘I should do that!’ I summoned the courage and called her for an assessment. That took a lot of courage as I didn’t know what to expect, but I knew I needed someone to help me on my journey, someone to teach me how to begin a fitness program and someone to coach me along the way. I knew I couldn’t do it on my own. I was anxious that I wouldn’t be able to do it or that I would look silly trying, but Nancy encouraged and helped me. Keeping a regular fitness schedule and eating healthy helps to keep me on track. My confidence has increased as I am becoming more fit, feel better and my friends and family have noticed the change in my lifestyle and are there to support me. There are still times that the old ‘self doubt’ creeps into my head telling me I can’t do it, but I look at how far I have come and I don’t want to go back. Each day is a new beginning… a fresh start to eat well and exercise. One of the biggest changes I made was learning to track my eating. It doesn’t matter how you do it, just doing it will help you become successful. I use ‘My Fitness Pal’ and can access it from any device. I can track my water intake, my exercise and most importantly what I put in my mouth. When you actually track what you eat, you realize just how costly those quick little snacks actually are, what the appropriate amount of food on your plate looks like and you learn the nutritional benefits of what you are eating. So when you start to wonder what is going on with your weight loss, try tracking…you’ll have nothing to gain, but lots to lose!
What Cathy knows now among many other things, that changes that are small and consistant are more efficient.
